Choice of Studies for Incoming Freshman 2018-2019 School Year

 Incoming Students and Families

Incoming Freshman include:

1. Student’s within the East High School Boundary area- Click here to see if your address is within boundaries 

(Students that are new to Denver Public Schools and within East boundaries need to bring birth certificate, 2-TWO  proofs of address- utility bill, rent/mortgage statement, or tax statement verifying address are sufficient. Students will get a DPS ID number within a week and the class schedule will be built after the DPS ID is issued.)

2. You received a notification from the School or Choice and Enrollment Office accepting your student into East High School. 

If you have questions regarding the School of Choice process or timeline please contact them directly at 720-423-3493.

 

East will host Incoming Choice of Studies Nights on April 17th, 18th, and 19th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the East auditorium. Attendance on one of these nights is MANDATORY for incoming families, and counselors will guide small groups of students through choosing their classes for next school year. Fall sports, clubs, and activities will also be represented in the lobby to encourage your student to get involved and connected at East!

*If you cannot make it on your designated night, please come to one of the other evenings. NO RSVP NEEDED. 

 All students that attend the Choice of Studies night will have to register for the fall, this will be an online or walk-in process. (Choice of Studies DOES NOT guarantee a seat at East High School.)

 

If your student has taken a full year of both Algebra and Geometry and he/she would like to take Advanced Algebra 2 as a 9th grader (typically an 11th grade course), your student MUST take our math assessment from 4:45-6:00 on either April 17th, 18th, or 19th in room 110. Comprehensive Algebra 1 and Geometry concepts will be covered on this assessment.

Shadowing appointments are no longer available and due to the mass number of requests we cannot accommodate individual tours and meetings.  You may come in after school to walk around the building or please check our calendar for arts or sporting events that you can attend with your student to get a feel for talent, culture and student body of our East Angels

If you need a NEW Parent Portal account please visit https://myportal.dpsk12.org, fill out the form and click on the orange “Create Account” button.  You will be contacted by a Portal team member. Your request will take 5-7 business days by our district offices. 

If parents need a password reset for the Portal please email John_AdamsIII@dpsk12.org or Doug_Bushnell@dpsk12.org. This is only for password resets and forgotten passwords. This is not for account set up.

password = 8 digit date of birth (2 for the month, 2 for the date, 4 for the year, ie 07052015)
