Weekly Announcement Week of February 20th

Hello all in the Land of Angels,

This is Andy Mendelsberg with the weekly announcements for the week of February 20th through February 24th:

From the Principal’s Desk:

There will be no school on Monday due to President’s Day. The rest of the week is SPIRIT week.  We will be on a normal schedule Tuesday through Thursday.  Friday we will be on our Pep Rally schedule.

The weekly attendance for this past week was 90%. Our goal for the year is 93%.

The end of the six week-grading period is today.  We will send home 6-week grade reports to families if your student earned a “D” or a “F” during this grading period.

Tutoring is available every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the library from 3-4pm.  Additionally, all teachers are available on Thursdays from 1:15-2:15 during tutorial.  Parents please encourage your students to take advantage of these opportunities.

The Colorado SAT School Day and Colorado PSAT 10 exams are fast approaching.  Please go to the East website for pertinent information around adding the essay portion to your student’s SAT test.

Speaking of state testing: College Readiness Test week is the week of April 10th through April 14th.  The schedule is posted on our website.  We will be distributing out more information around AP tutorials, D and F supports, college remediation testing and teacher accessibility during test week in the near future.  The current schedule is subject to change, but we wanted to give all our families a chance to see how we will handle 9th Grade CMAS, 10th grade PSAT, 11th Grade Science CMAS and 11th Grade SAT this year in a 1 week time frame versus testing over a 6 week period.

From the Counseling Office:

Junior choice of studies begins next week!  Counselors will be pulling students out of their elective classes to discuss classes for next year, building a plan for ACT/SAT, and discussing how to prepare for those college tests.

The first six week grades have now closed.  We recommend checking infinite campus to monitor your students’ academic progress for the semester so far.  Please contact counselors if you have any questions about classes or grades!

Seniors, please keep bringing in your acceptance and financial award letters so we can celebrate all of your success!
