You are likely aware that DPS Superintendent Susana Cordova has directed the school district to change the start date of the school year to Monday, August 24 within a remote learning context and a hopeful transition to hybrid (in-person and remote) learning on October 16th. You can read more about this at:
As previously communicated, we want to be certain that you know we are no longer hosting an in-person 9th Grade Academy next week.
We have revised our program to provide an excellent “remote” introduction to East High School, as is required by our current coronavirus context.  Changes have been made to the program so that, as is tradition, we are still able to make valuable connections and relationships with our new Angels as soon as possible.  We are looking forward to your Angel’s participation in our revised 9th Grade Academy and we look forward to an in-person introduction to our school as soon as is possible.  The changes that we are making to the program will allow every student to experience:

  • A “video welcome,” to be released the week of August 17th, that will introduce Remote Learning at Denver East
  • Weekly on-line interaction in small groups with “Link Leaders” (Junior and Senior student leaders) who have been trained to support your student’s entry into the Land of the Angels
  • Priority entry of “freshman only” into in-person learning (which may still contain hybrid or online/remote components) beginning the week of October 16th. This will be facilitated by Denver East staff members and our Link Leaders, following necessary practices for health and safety.

We look forward to “seeing” you soon!
