It is our priority to keep you informed of all matters concerning student safety.

Yesterday, we were made aware of complaints relating to allegations of student-to-student sexual misconduct that reportedly occurred several months ago, outside of the school day, and not on school grounds.  This was the first report related to these concerns, and our staff has responded through the initiation of the Denver Public Schools’ rigorous and thorough response process, outlined in the following Board Policy: https://go.boarddocs.com/co/dpsk12/Board.nsf/goto?open&id=BSGUCL78E91F

We have responded as mandatory reporters which, as required by law, engages a report to the Denver Police Department.  While such a situation is under review or investigation, we also work with the students involved to provide supportive measures, put safety plans in place if needed, and take steps to assure that there will be no retaliation or bullying that results.  We take all allegations very seriously and seek to ensure that the process is fair and thorough for all involved.

I ask that anyone with additional information or concerns to report them directly through the Safe2Tell website at safe2tell.org, or by contacting the DPS Title IX Coordinator by emailing reportdiscrimination@dpsk12.org

We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students at East High School and will provide you with more information when we can.

I want to thank you for your support, patience, and continued commitment to the students and community of East High School. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
John Youngquist
Principal
