Happy last day of school and happy summer! It is hard to believe we are not saying goodbye with high fives and hand waves as our students are heading out the door of our school building, but know that we have appreciated them and we will miss you during this summer break! Remember that students have until 12 noon on Tuesday to provide any last assignments to their teachers.
The PTSA would like to present the 2020 East Angel Awards to members of the East staff and community who truly embody what it means to be an Angel. These are people who go above and beyond for our students, colleagues, and community and whole-heatedly live the East Angel Spirit. Please complete the nomination form HERE by Wednesday, May 27th at noon to nominate an extraordinary individual for this award!
Due to our rapid progression toward the end of the year, it is likely that we will not be able to allow students into the building to gain access to lockers until we get to August. Know that we have already worked to get any gross stuff, like food in lunch sacks, out of the lockers. Most 9th-11th graders will be assigned the same locker for next year, so the important things you left behind in March should still be there in August.
Yearbooks- for 9th-11th graders: It is looking like we will be able to provide for a yearbook pickup time in June. There are still a couple of details to take care of, but we will let you know when we have times and dates.

The Final Week of Remote Learning of the 2019-20 school year: While we will not have a traditional “finals week,” the last full week of school this year, May 18-22, will be a full week of the Remote Learning Schedule that you are continuing to follow.
- The very last opportunity for students to turn in assignments for a grade or for credit this semester will be Tuesday, May 26, at 12 noon.
- Students will soon be receiving an email providing access to the Grade/Credit Portal which will provide directions related to requesting “credit” instead of a “grade”
- The request for a “credit” instead of a “grade” will only need to be done if a student does not want to receive the “grade” in the class. A “grade” is included in the grade point average. A “credit” is not included in the grade point average
- If a student would like to request “credit” instead of the “grade” for more than one class, they will be required to make a separate request for each class
- If a student receives an “F” in a class, it will be represented as an “I” in Infinite Campus. The student will have one year to complete requirements for the course through the credit recovery system implemented by the school for the following school year

DPS is planning toward the start of the 2020-21 school year. A district committee is researching best practices and developing scenarios for potential opening structures for next school year, with options to be represented as we enter into June. Denver East is working with this timeline to ensure strong planning process for whatever context is presented as we move through the summer and into August.
