First, we have to thank you for your patience and resiliency for yesterday’s Snow Day and the smooth transition we had in which all students participated in Remote Learning.

As you heard last week, one of our Assistant Principals, Ms. Terita Walker has been serving as Acting Principal of East high as part of her Principal in Residence program with Learn to Lead and she’ll continue in this role throughout next week with John Youngquist to return on Monday, March 8.

If you have not seen them all, be sure to view the Black Excellence Videos that our amazing staff members have created for you and for our community, please visit:

4th Quarter is just around the corner- just a reminder that, exactly like Quarter 2, most students will be taking 3 classes.  For more students this will mean having one class on Tuesdays and Thursdays, instead of two.  Just a heads-up as we head toward the final quarter of this really interesting school year.

Information has been sent to families and students about the East HS principal search process. You can learn about the three candidates and give your feedback at

Optional on-site COVID-19 Screening for Students is Here! Parents and Guardians have received registration information related to optional on-site COVID-19 testing for students.  The test that will be used, starting Wednesday, is a saliva protocol that COVIDCheck Colorado uses and is called SalivaDirect. SalivaDirect is an FDA Emergency Use Authorization-approved PCR testing protocol. The Yale School of Public Health developed the protocol; the NBA used SalivaDirect ™ in “the bubble” to test its players, and the protocol is being rolled out to other organizations, institutions, and populations around the country. Yale’s studies have shown that SalivaDirect ™ PCR is as sensitive as a nasal PCR test and is both more convenient and comfortable for participants than a nasal swab. If you would like to sign your student up for this ongoing testing program, please do so now. It’s free, fast, and convenient: If you’d like to see the registration process, here’s a video that goes through each step. If your student has been exposed to COVID-19 or is experiencing symptoms, they must be tested at a COVIDCheck Colorado drive-up testing site. Please register for that one-time test here:
