FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and is required by most colleges, universities, and scholarships. (Students must have a social security number to fill out the FAFSA, but parents don’t need one.)
CASFA is the Colorado Application for State Financial Aid (most commonly used by undocumented students).
We recommend families of all income levels to fill out the FAFSA/CASFA. You never know what financial aid you might be eligible for if you don’t fill out the form!
FAFSA is currently open in a beta testing phase. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND trying to fill out the FAFSA during the testing phase. We are expecting a large number of glitches in the first month that the form is open. The easiest way to fill out FAFSA will be to wait until January and come to the workshop (details below).
The Denver Scholarship Foundation will be hosting a Financial Aid workshop at East on January 23rd in the Counseling Center, from 3pm-7pm. (Registration link coming soon.)
In the meantime, students and their families can get ready for FAFSA & CASFA by creating their accounts and gathering financial information.
Come see the DSF College Advisors in the Counseling Center if you have any questions!
