There was no question in who we should recommend for the Give-Back-to-Education Program… East High School.
Bryan Bohanan, Ed.D. | Assistant Dean, Office of Clinical Experiences & Partnerships | School of Education | MSU Denver
On Monday, Denver East High School was honored to receive a distinguished award from our partners at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU). This accolade recognizes the strong collaboration and commitment to excellence in education between our institutions. The award was presented at a special event where we were delighted to accept a $2,000 check in support of our school’s programs.
Principal Terita Walker, alongside Assistant Principal Shaylyn DeLong, proudly accepted the award. They were joined by Bryan Bohanan, Ed.D., Assistant Dean of the Office of Clinical Experiences & Partnerships at MSU’s School of Education, and Dr. Dan Moore, Assistant Professor of Secondary Education at MSU.
This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our educators, students, and partners in fostering a thriving educational environment. The funds will be instrumental in further enhancing our programs and providing additional resources for our students.
We are grateful for this recognition and look forward to continuing our partnership with MSU, working together to achieve greater heights in education.

MSU Denver has a long history of working with East to support preservice teachers in Denver, and our work together grew in new directions in the Fall of 2023 when we embarked on a focused clinical partnership in connection with a Secondary Education field experience course. In our first year of partnership, approximately 25 MSU Denver teacher candidates worked in classrooms across departments at East to gain practical experience and guidance.
“As we look ahead, we are excited to continue to build this partnership in ways that truly add value for the East community as well as the future educators they support, and we are deeply grateful to the teachers who open their classrooms for the preservice teachers who will, hopefully, one day become their colleagues.”
