Dear Angels Community,
I have enjoyed my first week as acting principal of East High School. Getting to learn and gain leadership experience has been so rewarding. I have had the opportunity to meet with staff, students, and parents this week and it has been so much fun getting to know more aspects of the school. Thank you everyone who has offered feedback and encouragement this week!
I am looking forward to another week in this role. I am excited for the MLK assembly on Friday, the students have put a lot of time and effort into planning to make it a success. The Class Fair is also on Friday and is a great opportunity for students to learn more about courses offered at East.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Lunch is FREE for ALL students regardless of students free or reduced price meal benefit status; however, it is still very important that families continue to complete the Household Application for Student Meal Benefits to determine lunch eligibility status.
Counseling News
COS Timeline:
Please note the following updates and timelines for your students Choice of Studies. This is the opportunity for your students to pick out their classes for next year. Your student will be meeting with a counselor through their Advisement class or their English class so there is no need for them to make an appointment.
Current 9th grade students: January 25- February 15
Current 10th grade students: January 29 – February 5
Current 11th grade students: February 5- February 12
Your student received additional information including course options and a course catalog in their Advisement this week. Please take a moment to discuss your student course requests and options prior to meeting with counselors.
Schedule Changes:
As we have finished the first two weeks of school, course changes are no longer available. A student may make a level change during the first 6-weeks of a course and should schedule an appointment with their counselor to facilitate a level change. After the first 6-weeks, for any extenuating circumstances, a request can be made through the student’s counselor and will be forwarded to a committee for consideration.Teacher requests cannot be accommodated.

SENIOR PARENTS
Financial aid season is right around the corner. For students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, the FAFSA is the application you and your student will complete to apply for financial aid. For students who are undocumented, you will complete the CASFA application. The applications will open in December (the exact date has not yet been released). It is important that your family completes the application, so we hope to help you get prepared ahead of time.
If your student will be completing the FAFSA this year, you will need to create your own FSA ID, which is the electronic signature you’ll use to complete your part of the form. It consists of a username and password. You can get started on this task now if you have a social security number. If you don’t have a social security number, there will be a process for you to create an FSA ID soon – look for more information from the Future Center coming around December!
For those filling out the CASFA, you can create your login here.
