Saturday Detention Policy |
Two or more lunch tardies (this pertains to students late entering the building once lunch ends) will result in assignment of Saturday school. Saturday school is held weekly from 9:00am-11:00am. Students have two opportunities to attend a Saturday school assignment. Failure to attend either session will result in a loss of extracurricular privileges. Students and parents will be notified of assignments via SchoolMessenger. Students should check in at the main entrance and be on time. Late entry will not be allowed. If you have any questions please reach out to our Student Support Liaison, Candice Malone. |
Testing and Free Test Prep |
Testing From April 15th – 18th East High School students will participate in SAT, PSAT, and CMAS Science tests as required by the state of Colorado. This is a chance for students and their families to get feedback on student progress and college readiness. All 11th grade students taking the SAT free of charge have the opportunity to send their scores to colleges to be considered for admissions decisions. Parents or guardians who would like to decline their student’s College Board approved testing accommodations for the April administration of the SAT or PSAT should email our Site Assessment Leader Jessica Perkins at jperkin@dpsk12.net by March 15. Any requests made after that date may not be guaranteed because accommodations are built into the digital testing format. These test scores affect East High School’s ratings on the state of Colorado’s School Performance Framework. The guardian of a Denver Public Schools student, can request to excuse their child from participating in the state assessments. It is a disadvantage for you and your child to lose access to the feedback that testing provides, however if you wish to opt your child out, reach out to arivas@dpsk12.net. FREE TEST PREP We are excited to share with you an additional resource for tutoring and test prep support for our students. Denver Public Library recently started a subscription with the online tutoring platform, Tutor.com. English and Spanish speaking tutors are available in a variety of subjects and test prep areas from 3:00 p.m. – 10.00 p.m. every day of the week. Tutor.com also offers writing help, test prep resources from The Princeton Review for the ACT and SAT. They also offer Advanced Placement course videos and more. There is a public blog post about the resource and what’s available. Students must be a registered user of the Denver Public Library to access this resource. The Flyers and Posters for this program are located HERE. |

CALLING ALL SENIOR PARENTS! After Prom, the cherished tradition for all East High Seniors that is FREE to all seniors, will be here before we know! After Prom is an evening where the school transforms into a playground that includes activities, games, entertainment, food and exciting prizes in a safe, alcohol-free environment! It’s an experience our seniors eagerly anticipate each year! However, we need your support to make it a reality! Our fundraising campaign is in full swing, and we are reaching out to you for donations of any size. With a cost of $75 per student, your contribution ensures that every senior can participate in this unforgettable event. After Prom is only possible through the generosity of parents, grandparents and others. To make your contribution, simply follow this link: https://east-angels-after-prom-2024.cheddarup.com/. If you prefer to write a check, please contact Leslie Kelly at Leslie.kelly1@gmail.com for instructions. Remember, all donations are tax deductible. Attention junior parents: Your help is also needed for after prom. This is such an important event for seniors and next year will be your turn. In the past we have had junior parents participate in the tear down and in setting up so that they can see what is involved in this amazing project. This also helps to ensure an early start in the planning process. If you would like to help in any way please contact Tee MacDonaldtheresa_macdonald@dpsk12.net Cap & Gown If your senior has not yet ordered their cap and gown please have them come to room 100 and see Tee. Jostens will be here on March 20th to deliver announcements and other items that you and your seniors may have purchased. Caps and Gowns will be handed out at rehearsal on May 20th. Graduation tickets will be handed out at senior checkout. Every student will receive 7 at that time, but will have the opportunity to pick up more at rehearsal. Club List 23-24: Here you can access all of the amazing club opportunities we have this school year. Feel free to reach out to club sponsors or Tee MacDonald theresa_macdonald@dpsk12.net for more information. |
