Hello East Angels Community! Homecoming was a success! Thank you to the staff, parents and students who continue to carry the East Spirit! Brace yourself for a long, yet informative update. Today is the official start of Hispanic Heritage Month and we have included exciting events below, in celebration. We are nearly one month into the school year, and it has been a joy seeing our student body engaged, diligent and energized about their high school career. Student ID Policy

All students are required to have an ID to enter. If a student doesn’t have an ID, they will need to wait in line at the front security desk for one to be printed. Please NOTE that all re-printed IDs are $5 and the charge will be added to the student’s account. 

Picture Retakes:Picture retakes are October 10th. This will be the last opportunity to get your students’ pictures taken. If you would like to order pictures go to mylifetouch.com the bPicture ID is EVTRRZ4KF

Counseling Update

College Fair: September 26th from 5:00-7:30pm

Join the East Counseling Team in hosting the CCHS/CR College fair. This is a wonderful opportunity for Juniors, Seniors, and their parents to meet with admissions representatives from 50+ in state and out of state schools about the admission process and post-secondary planning.

SAT Prep Course Information: There will be another SAT prep course at University of Denver for a reduced cost. There  will also be a live online course (you will choose either the on-campus course or the live online course). 

East juniors and seniors are invited to attend the SAT prep course offered by Campus Prep this fall. The 27-hour comprehensive course, including proctored practice exams, The cost is $175-$195. 

We have provided this popular course at the University of Denver for the past 7 years, and we are the official SAT provider for the Boulder Valley School District. Students who complete the course often increase their score by over 200 points.

Gifted and Talented 

Wondering about advanced learning plans and gifted identification in DPS? Do you wish you knew how to support your GT student who is a perfectionist, cannot master time management, or doesn’t perform up to their potential? Come to the GT Student and Family Night at East on Tuesday, September 19th from 5:30-6:30 to learn about GT programming at East and how to support your student’s success.

East Theatre Company Update:

East Theatre Company Educational Tour to Greece Spring Break of 2025 Interest Meeting  will take place on Wednesday, September 20th from 6-7pm via zoom. Please use the following QR code to RSVP.

East Theatre Company will be having a student mixer Thursday, Sept. 21st from 6-8pm in the Auditorium. There will be food and drink as well as games. It’s a great opportunity for your student to meet the theatre community at East. We hope to see you there!

Latinx Heritage Month

Federally designated as Hispanic Heritage Month in 1988, is observed from September 15th to October 15th by celebrating the rich historical and cultural legacies of individuals whose ancestors came from the Caribbean, Central and South America, Spain, and Mexico.

Sat Sep 16th 1pm – 4pm – Anythink Commerce City 7185 Monaco St, Commerce City, CO: Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to honor and recognize the achievements and contributions of our Hispanic community. Enjoy live music, entertainment, and free food and drinks, while supplies last. Enjoy a live musical performance by the Colorado Youth Mariachi Program, as well as world-renowned guitarist El Javi! A piñata-breaking and free face-painting will also be available, while supplies last. No advanced registration necessary.

Celebre el Mes de la Herencia Hispana para honrar y reconocer los logros y las contribuciones de nuestra comunidad hispana. Disfrute de música en vivo, entretenimiento, y comida y refrescos gratis, hasta agotar existencias. ¡Disfruta de una presentación musical en vivo del Programa de Mariachi Juvenil de Colorado, así como del guitarrista de renombre mundial El Javi! The CSC is a vital part of our school community, responsible for advising on key decisions, allocating resources, and fostering collaboration among parents, teachers, and administrators. Serving on the CSC provides you with a platform to actively contribute to the educational experience at East High School.

Need some help filling your pantry? Struggling to pay the grocery bills? The East Pantry will be OPEN this Saturday, September 16 from 9-10:30. The pantry is located in the Commons (the cafeteria). Please enter the building through the doors on Detroit Street. Bring your bags!

Athletics Update

Congratulations to Boys Golf! This week our boys golf team won 1st place in the Varsity Cup and 1st place in City League. The Angels had three individuals qualify for All League, a top individual finisher for Varsity Cup and our senior captain was the season long individual champion of the league. Next up for boys golf is Regionals and then State. Best of luck and we can’t wait to see how the team finishes their season!

Future Angels Cheerleading Clinic: Do you have a child in elementary or middle school who is interested in cheerleading? Our very own East cheerleaders will be hosting a clinic for elementary and middle schoolers. The deadline to register is October 6th. Our future angels will be cheering and performing at halftime of a varsity football game. They will also receive tickets to the game, a t-shirt, bow and poms. Click here to register!

Girls Flag Football Fundraiser: 

This exciting event is an excellent opportunity for our team to showcase their skills, camaraderie, and sportsmanship while contributing to a meaningful cause. We believe that it’s essential to empower young female athletes and raise awareness for breast cancer research and support. We look forward to your presence as a community so come out and support our Girls Football team.

October Digital PSAT Testing

East High School will offer PSAT/NMSQT testing to students free of charge on October 20, 23, and 24. This is an opportunity for students to get valuable feedback on their readiness for college, have access to scholarship opportunities, and to practice for the SAT. We will not have regular classes on testing days in order to provide an appropriate testing environment.

The test is completely digital this year and will be taken on school issued chromebooks. Click here to learn more about the digital testing experience.

Accommodations that have been approved by the college board are built into the digital testing experience. In order to opt out of approved accommodations, a guardian must email our site assessment leader by Oct 2 jperkin@dpsk12.net.

Parents may opt their student out of testing by following the directions at this link in English or this link in Spanish.
