Student Spotlight

Thrive Scholarship Winner: Mateo Lewis

Mateo Lewis is a senior at East High School and a proud Thrive Scholar. The Thrive Scholarship is a six year program, assisting high school students through college access. From Ivy League tours to networking opportunities, Mateo has taken full advantage of this opportunity. He is currently in a pre-law program through Georgetown University, and plans to major in political science in a 5-year JD program. Not only does he dominate in varsity football and baseball, but he also maintains a stellar 4.3 GPA. We are incredibly proud of you, Mateo! Keep thriving!

Teacher Spotlight

Mandy Hostetter has done a tremendous job with our Con Law team. Students have a great academic and competitive experience under her guise. Our Con Law team has finished 4th place in the nation two years in a row. This success is attributed to the hard work and dedication Mandy has put into this team. Not only does she prepare the students for state and nationals competitions but also gets them ready for the AP US Government and Politics exam.

The community raves about the leadership of the Con Law program as well as student performance. Mandy partners with retired lawyers, professors, and Supreme Court justices to get students to master all aspects of the Constitution. If you thought that was a lot, Mandy also serves as a professional fundraiser, consistently fundraising $100,000 each year to ensure there is equitable access to the program for all students.

Thank you Mandy for all of the amazing work you have done in service of East students and the East community. You are an inspiration to us all.

After Prom

Attention junior parents: Your help is needed for after prom. This is such an important event for seniors and next year will be your turn. In the past we have had junior parents participate in the tear down and in setting up so that they can see what is involved in this amazing project. This also helps to ensure an early start in the planning process. If you would like to help in any way please contact Tee MacDonald
